Ugly Duckling

These guys are cool. I say this not as a statement, but fact. They have been around as a hip hop group almost as long as I have been on this earth, creating fresh tracks to a faithful and supportive audience. Coming from Long Beach California, their style is set in the 80s and 90s, focusing on sampling; which Einstein masters incredibly well, and even doing so live at times, rather than the self-made beats which many hip hop artists use today. Both MCs Andy and Dizzy, rhyme tight and in unison as if a duo that has been joined at the hip since birth, making their songs flow in perfect collaboration.

Ugly Duckling focus on themes that are relevant to society today such as materialism, commercialism, love and forgiveness. As well as some lyrics that are hilarious genius, these guys are seen as similar to bands such as: A Tribe Called Quest and Jurassic 5.

With 6 albums under their neck, tearing up shows worldwide because of their performance style and feel good songs, Ugly Duckling are a hip hop sensation. I would buy tickets to see them now as I was hinted at- that they may not be around forever!

Listen to their Track which is my personal favourite, “A Little Samba”:

And check out my interview with them where we chat about their name, their tracks and we play “Learn The Lingo”:
