Alcoholism in the time of coronavirus for BBC News

Back at the start of summer, I put together a radio programme about alcoholism in lockdown and what it was like for those living with this illness for BBC Essex, with the incredible individuals of Joseph, Marc and “Susan”.

I pitched the idea to BBC News, more specifically BBC East, who passed me onto BBC England. After doing some extensive research for a new third individual for the piece, and after lots of open and powerful conversations with individuals who told me personal stories of their childhood and their challenges, I came across Tracy.

Although this article for BBC News only highlights just a glimpse of what her situation is like, it really is only the tip of the iceberg of what she has been through and what she has experienced. Honestly, she is inspirational and I hope you see her strength and resilience in her story like I do.
