Endometriosis for BBC Channel Islands TV

A condition that effects 1 in 10 women in the UK, Endometriosis causes debilitating period pain, heavy bleeding, and in some cases, infertility.

The month of March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, and after learning about the condition, I wanted to raise awareness of the subject.

I spoke to an islander, Lee-Ann Hawkes for both BBC Radio Radio Guernsey and BBC One in the Channel Islands about the pain she suffered with for over a decade, why she wants to break the silence on the subject, and her life now after the removal of her cervix, ovaries and womb.

Thank you to Meghan Owen for filming and editing the piece and for Lee-Ann for so bravely sharing her story. All copyright belongs to the BBC.
